The Henley Standard reports that an exhibition centre dedicated to George Orwell should be open in Henley in time for the Queen’s diamond jubilee celebration weekend [June 2-June 5]. Peter Burness-Smith has agreed a peppercorn rent of £1 a year with Henley Town Council to use the disused chapel at Fair Mile cemetery. He told the Standard: “I want to tell the story of Henley during those years through the eyes of Blair. They were historic times and they will be reflected in his life.” Full story at the Standard here.
